Hello CakePHP Bakers. It has become clear that the Cake Software Foundation's recent addition of a top navigation bar to the CakePHP website requires some explanation in order to clarify the intentions of the Cake Software Foundation (CSF) and its operation, and intentions for the CakePHP framework.

Lets make it clear that the framework's availability, license, community driven effort and goal for free use is unchanged, and will remain so. CakePHP is developed and released under the MIT License.

Compiling Xdebug on OSX (v2.1.0beta1)

Xdebug is essential. If I was a superhero, and had a utility belt, Xdebug would have a spot on there for sure.

In developing for CakePHP, and any PHP applications in general, Xdebug allows me to extend the basic error reporting of PHP to provide much more helpful information, as well as a host of other features that I'll explain briefly here.

Serious Branding

While I am far from an expert in this area, I have come to realise over the last couple of years how important it is to identify yourself as an important individual in the online community, and brand yourself appropriately.

I've been working on a whole range of changes to my personal site design, and it comes back to refreshing, but not overly changing the site style too much. Visitors come to expect a certain content and design from your site, and changing too much over a short period of time can be detrimental.

Hey.

So its been a while. I have been a bit busy with a number of things. The CakePHP talk I am doing for SydPHP is coming along nicely, and the workshop is starting to take shape really well. Google (Yes, I just referenced and linked Google) has kindly offered their space, and I have been in touch with a few old mates from school and University that are attending to see what I have to say for myself. Its shaping up to be a good evening. Hopefully the start of many more to come.

Upcoming Event - SydPHP CakePHP Presetation

With more of the details finalised and a public announcement made by SydPHP, I am happy to announce that I will be giving a presentation on CakePHP (introduction) as well as a workshop to get your hands dirty with some CakePHP code.

The event will take place at Google HQ in Sydney, who have graciously offered their offices for SydPHP's use for the night.
