I find myself dealing with image croppers, resizers and all sorts of image manipulation, no matter where I am working and what I am doing. The slightest offset or miscalculation can cause some weird results.
In order to assist debugging and visual identification of errors in cropping, I have created a set of clearly Portrait and Landscape images in a range of formats, including a couple with alpha transparency. You can download the image set here. A preview follows:
Wildcard Subdomains for quick Virtual Host creation

Being a developer of web applications, you are probably working on a number of sites at once. Its really handy to have them placed on their own subdomain or domain in order to provide separation. Linux systems will allow you to create a wildcard subdomain by placing a wildcard into the hosts file.
Since changing to OSX this is something I have missed. Fortunately, tonight I found a solution. It allows you to use as many domains as you like without changes to your hosts file. Just setup your apache virtual hosts, and off you go! Productivity++

I'm a regular helper in the CakePHP IRC channel. Helping out other budding developers, whether they be new to PHP or just new to CakePHP makes me feel like I am helping in my own way to assist the community and grow the developer base for my favourite MVC Framework.
More and more I am seeing developers asking questions where they could help themselves. Some of the time, this is due to misinterpretation or lack of research. However there are plenty of cases in which the developers are aware of what needs to be done, they understand the framework, but they are afraid to simply try it out.

I find myself extremely busy of late. Those of you that keep in touch regularly will know that I have been working pretty hard and perhaps have myself spread a little thin. There are a number of projects I am working on as well as my day job keeping me more than busy, and its probably time for a bit of a cleanup to bring some focus back to individual goals and push those developments forward.
Cakebot has been getting som regular development, and its shaping up nicely. Each large chunk of development I approach on Cakebot takes it closer to the monstrosity gwoo and I envisaged from the beginning. The Protocol plugins are designed to handle any form of communication, allowing the bot to really work independently of the communication method.

For those Australians out there, I have had a huge success tonight getting the iPhone 3.0 beta 2 OS working with tethering, with some simple plist modifications.
I don't see why I can't post it up, so I will see about getting it packaged nicely, and hosted up here for people to download, based on the number of people that show interest in the bundle. So if you are interested, drop me a comment, and I will see about getting you hooked up.
